There are bathrooms and picnic areas at the parking area.  Enjoy 2-3 hours of riding through pines and hardwoods and finishing up with a swim at Sand Lake or similar lake.  When there is enough rainfall, Sand Lake is clear with a hard sand bottom and horses love to stand and float in it with their humans on hot days.  There are separate motorcycle trails on the other side of this forest area from where we ride. Hunting is permitted.  Please check the local hunting schedule.

Directions: From I-10 take Exit 192, signed for Capital Circle and Airport.  Turn south onto Capital Circle (towards the airport).  Continue several miles.  Capital Circle will narrow to 2 lanes before you get to the airport.  Continue past the Tallahassee Airport.  At the first traffic light past the airport, turn right onto Springhill Road (County Road 2203).  This the corner of the airport runway and the water treatment plant.

Take Springhill Road south past Capital Circle for approximately 3 miles. Turn right into Lost Lake/Motorcycle Recreation area. Pull up to honor system box and fill out and deposit form for horse trailer.  Equestrian users do not have to pay. Take first right and park on the far right on the gravel parking area.  Ride your horse back to the main park driveway and turn right until road dead ends.  Keep riding over the dirt hill, and in a little while, the trail will open up to Sand Lake on your right.
