TRAIL ETIQUETTE REMINDERS

  • Please make sure your guests are aware of the following trail etiquette recognized by the Board of Directors as policies that apply to all official STA trail rides:

  • The use of alcohol, prescription or non-prescription medications, or any other mind-altering substance, which could impair judgment, or appreciation of the risks of horseback riding is prohibited on the trail.

  • Members’ or guests’ dogs are not allowed on the trail.

  • Littering of any kind is prohibited (including cigarette butts and hay strings) on the trail or at the trailhead.

  • A horse that is known to kick at other horses or people must wear a red ribbon in its tail.

  • A stallion must wear a yellow ribbon in his forelock and in his tail.

  • A horse that is considered green or unfamiliar to trail riding must wear a green ribbon in its tail.

  • If you feel the “need for speed”, please do not run past other horses on the trail, or if in the lead please do not take off away from the other horses.

  • Due to the concern of importing invasive plants, please do not clean out the trailers at the trailheads. Please help by only leaving the hoof prints behind.
